Granny Sarella's Spaghetti Sauce*

Ingredients

¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 lb. lean ground beef

1 lb. ground pork

½ cup chopped onion

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 cup water

1 - 26.5 ounce can tomato puree

2 or 3 tbs. tomato paste

1 tbs. honey

1 tbs. dried oregano

1 ½ tsp. sea salt

1 tsp. fresh basil, chopped

¼ tsp. black pepper

¼ cup dried parsley


Directions:

Brown lean ground beef and ground pork in a large stock pot over medium-high heat.

Drain grease from pot, then remove the meat and blot off excess grease. Let stand while sautéing olive oil, onion and garlic in pot. Sautee for approximately 5 minutes until softened.

Return the meat to the pot. Add 1 cup water, tomato puree, tomato paste, honey, oregano, salt, basil, and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 hours on medium low. Stir in parsley during the last 20 minutes of cooking.

Serves 6-8
